It seems as though you would prefer to use a public forum to discuss this issue, rather than work through issues via email, so I will post my follow-up here.

Your post seems like it would be more appropriate for a tabloid magazine. You’ve managed to piece together portions of different email conversations in a way that allows you to twist the message in a way that fits your needs. I personally don’t buy tabloids, as they’re full of over-hyped, half-truths that are designed for drama. But they do provide me with a good laugh when I’m checking out at the supermarket.

Your choice of using the monitoring-fr.org domain is a good one. It (a) removes the confusion that some customers had thinking that nagios-fr.org was an official Nagios site and (b) it doesn’t cause conflicts with the Nagios trademark policy.

Your anger is misguided and is the result of you having jumped to incorrect conclusions. Your response is a clear indication that you do not understand trademark law or its purpose, and neither wish to ask for clarification or work towards a amicable solution that works for everyone. We highly value the community and go to great lengths to find a good balance with regards to trademark law and the community’s use of the Nagios mark. We can not and will not, however, allow community members to use the Nagios mark in any way they see fit — especially when it comes to commercial interests they may have. There are guidelines and rules in place for good reason, and you are required to abide by them if you choose to use the Nagios mark for various purposes.

Lastly, I’m am greatly disappointed in your reaction to a simple compliance request and the way you’ve decided to handle things. Your actions are very unprofessional. Neither I nor our company (Nagios Enterprises) have a desire to work with you in any official commercial Nagios capacity as you previously requested. We won’t risk any Nagios customers being treated in a manner similiar to what you somehow believe you are entitled to treat us.

Simplement je trouve ça dommage de se lancer dans une censure ce ce type qui ne fait que conforter l’idée que ce projet périclite et se ferme.

La communauté et donc les contributions sont les principes même de l’Open Source, voilà ce que nous attendons de ce projet pour qu’il évolue à nouveau.
